President Droupadi Murmu conferred LK Advani with the Bharat Ratna Award at his residence in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and the family members of LK Advani attended the formal ceremony. LK Advani served as the deputy prime minister from June 2022 to May 2004, and Union Home Minister from October 1999 to May 2004. 

After confirming the award, President Murmu called Advani a ‘Doyen of Indian Politics,’ who has served the nation with unwavering dedication and distinction for over seven decades.
