With some brainstorming, efficient planning, eminent ideas and a considerable number of days put together, the Entrepreneurship & Incubation cell conducted the 3rd Edition of their Pan Mumbai Flagship Entrepreneurship fest, RISE. The dates for the same were the 21st and 22nd of February, 2023. With exciting and enlightening events, testing creativity, teamwork, pitching skills and marketing, the fest was a huge success.
The principal, Dr Pooja Ramchandani and professor-in-charge, Dr Navin Punjabi graced the opening ceremony with their presence.
This year, 4 main events were conducted which ranged around testing participants’ financial knowledge, marketing and entrepreneurial skills.
First Day: 21st February
On the 21st of February, the day began with the event named Market Kshtera. This event gave a unique opportunity to the participants to play the marketing head, and scourge the market with their marketing skills. The judge for the event was Mr Britu Raj Deka, founder and CEO of Dulic and co-founder of Focterr. He pursued his entrepreneurial dreams after a spectacular stint in the corporate.
This was followed by the event, A man with a plan (eliminations). In this event, participants were given a company that had suffered a huge loss and they were asked to suggest a profitable business model to re-establish the company’s position. The judge for this event was Ashu, a spiritual business coach for women wanting to start, scale and expand their businesses on Instagram.
This was then continued by the event, Alliance Arena. This event allowed the participants to test their technical, financial and fundamental knowledge. Logical Reasoning and equity research were also tested in this event. The judge for this event was Mr Lakshmikant Sharma, an experienced Investment banking professional and co-founder of Valuecraftz, a premium global knowledge partner providing high-quality value services for Investment Banks and M & advisors.
Second Day: 22nd February
On the 22nd, we began with the final round of A man with a plan, after which our final main event De Novo began. In this event, the participants were required to come up with a unique business idea that helps ISRO take a leap of hope with a vision of survival to prevent the extinction of mankind. The judge for this event was Prashant Angarakh, working as a scientist in ISRO for the past 10 years. He is currently pursuing M.Tech and also got selected as Scientist Engineer at ADRIN, one of the research institute departments under space.
Flagship Event, Pitch & Rise
Lastly, we conducted our Flagship Event, Pitch & Rise. This event was a replica of Shark tank, providing the participants with a golden opportunity by giving them a platform to present their business idea. The judges for this event were Mr Devansh Priyadarshan and Mr Chinmaya Amte. Mr Devansh Priyadarshan is the founder of Strix digital. He witnessed quite a few ups and downs in his entrepreneurial career. But today, he has worked with a few fortune 500 companies, startups etc. He is also planning to launch a new t-shirt brand named ATHEES by end of March. Mr Chinmaya Amte has worked in the areas of investment banking, Financial Due Diligence & Asset Management and has a work experience of 4 years. He is currently working as an associate at a Big4 firm and has trained more than 5000 students in Data Analytics and Corporate Finance using MS Excel. He is a guest speaker at the top IIMs and has 30K+ followers on LinkedIn.
All the participants learnt essential skills needed for setting up their own businesses through this event. The organising committee conducted the event smoothly.
Closing Ceremony
In the closing ceremony, the Vice Principal and Professor-in-charge, Dr Navin Punjabi, congratulated all winners and participants. The President, Mr. Ansh Jain, declared the winners and officially concluded RISE 2023.
