“The foods we choose make a difference.” -Michael Greger

People underestimate how important it is to take a proper and balanced diet throughout the day. If you are skipping your regular meals then you are doing injustice to your health. As a busy entrepreneur, it may be difficult for you to have a check on a diet chart but keeping an eye on eating habits is crucial. Entrepreneurs are often asked about their goals and vision but nobody asks what diet do they follow. Here are 5 food items that every entrepreneur must avoid in every situation in order to stay fit and healthy.

1. Alcohol

No matter how cool it looks to hold a glass of wine in hand to portray the success, alcohol’s effects can be devastating. According to different studies, high alcohol intake can damage your mental health or may lead to memory loss as well. Alcohol consumption can lead to serious health problems like high blood pressure, heart diseases, anxiety, irregular heartbeat, tremors, nausea, nervousness, and other health problems. If you want to maintain progress in your business, you must stop drinking alcohol.

2. Sugar added drinks

Sugary drinks can be very harmful as they increase the total calories in the body and also lead to a higher risk of type 2 diabetes, kidney diseases, tooth decay, non-alcoholic liver disease, and gout, a type of arthritis. As an entrepreneur, you should avoid the consumption of sugary drinks as excessive consumption can have adverse effects on your health. You can consume water or tea instead to maintain the hydration levels in your body.

3. Oily snacks

Everyone loves having cheese nuggets, french fries, and other oily food items during a business conference or a meeting. Over-eating of such snacks is a common habit of many entrepreneurs but these snacks are high in calories and can lead to stomach pain, diarrhea, heart diseases, diabetes, acne issues, weight gain, and obesity. Instead, you can consume healthy meals with wholesome ingredients. You can opt for whole-wheat bread, carrots, sweet cherry tomatoes, whole-grain crackers, pepper strips, celery sticks, and other healthy snacks.

4. Cakes and Pastries

Cakes and pastries may satisfy your taste buds but can have devastating effects on your health. Cakes and pastries are generally made with sugar, flour, and processed fats. The sugars in cake may increase the blood glucose level, induce weakness, numbness, and sleepiness, and can also raise blood cholesterol levels. If you want to have some sweet dish or dessert, yogurt, fresh fruits, or dark chocolate can be the perfect alternatives.

5. Cheese

Cheese contains healthy nutrients and is a great source of protein and calcium but excessive consumption may lead to high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and weight gain. Cheese is high in fat and experts advise limiting the intake of saturated fat. Cheese does not contain any fiber and excessive intake of pasteurized dairy may cause constipation. For a healthy and safe meal, you can choose mozzarella and cottage cheese.

If you are serious about your health, avoid eating the above-mentioned food items. Although, you can consume such food items on special occasions but try not to make it a habit!
