A JOURNEY TOWARDS THE NEW MILLENNIUM
- 1996 The journey started in 1996 when SM Worldwide was established with an emphasis on the International business vertical
- 2000 SM Worldwide ventured into the Domestic segment as a franchisee of a known courier company
- 2007 The Man behind SM Worldwide, Late Mr Shrawan Chaudhary realised the potential of the B2B segment and started expanding the company’s network through owned branches across the metro from 2007 as SM Courier Services Pvt Ltd. covering both Domestic and International services
- 2014 SM Courier registered itself as SM Express Logistics Pvt. Ltd. with special emphasis on parcel distribution across the nation
Growth: Since then, SM Express grew from 40 to 400 Channel Partners, covering 700 cities, 5000 pin codes and 10,000 locations, having 1,00,000 sq. ft. space, catering to 3500 customers
SM Express created a unique concept of marketing to the receiver rather than the seller. This reverse selling concept created a niche for SM in the home textile market.
- 2016 SM Express launched new products like RAPID (Premium AIR) and SMGC (Economy Ground Cargo)
- 2021 SM completed its 25 years celebrating Silver Jubilee on 27th July and also bought its own SM House

SM EXPRESS: THE VISION OF SHRAWAN CHAUDHARY
Born in Nagaur, Rajasthan to philanthropists Mukna Ram (father) and Ratna Devi (mother), Shrawan Chaudhary was a very kind-hearted and down-to-earth person. He was a true Karamyogi who made quite a lot significant contribution to the community. He always followed the path shown by his parents who used to say that “No one’s better than you, but you’re better than nobody.”
After completing his graduation from Rajasthan University, he began working as a delivery executive in an Airfreight company to support his routine expenditure, which helped him learn in and out of the logistics industry. He actively participated in different leadership programs and learnt team management skills. And then the day came when he led the inception of SM Express on 27th July 1996. Shrawan Chaudhary also trained his brother Mr Shivkaran (the Current MD of SM Express) on how to lead the organisation and take it forward.
SHIVKARAN: TAKING SM TO NEW HEIGHTS
From being a grassroots field staff to Managing Director, Mr Shivkaran is associated with SM Express since its inception days. With over two decades of experience in the logistics industry, Mr Shivkaran has the right combination of knowledge, leadership and business acumen to propel the company to new heights of growth and diversification. As the Managing Director, he is responsible for the successful management of the company’s business. Along with that, he also supervises and stirs all company’s operations, people and ventures in order to maintain and accelerate the business.
