EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION OF SAVITRI JINDAL
Savitri Jindal was born on 20th March 1950 in Tinsukia located in Assam. She was born and brought up in an orthodox family. After the demise of her sister, she got married at the age of 15 to her sister’s husband who was 20 years older than her.
Although she didn’t attend college but owns a diploma from Assam University.
FAMILY AND HUSBAND OF SAVITRI JINDAL
Savitri was married to Om Prakash Jindal, the Founder of Jindal Group. Savitri is the mother of nine children. The sons are Prithviraj, Sajjan, Ratan and Naveen. She has five daughters – Saroj Bhartia, Nirmala Goel, Urmila Bhuwalka, Sarika Jhunjhunwala and Seema Jajodia.

Born to Netram Jindal and Chandravati Jindal on 7th August 1930, Om Prakash Jindal established Jindal Steel and Power under Jindal Organisation and became the Chairman of the group. He was also awarded the “Life Time Achievement Award” in November 2004 by the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry for contributing his significant share to the Indian Steel Industry. Mr Jindal was also the Minister of Power in the Government of Haryana. He was a member of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha from the Hisar constituency.
THE DEMISE OF OM PRAKASH JINDAL
Om Prakash Jindal died when Savitri was 55 years old. From then on, she took all the responsibilities of the Jindal Empire on her shoulders, not caring about her age at all.
OP Jindal’s death was a major turning point in the life of Savitri, who not only ventured out of the four walls of the house but also became an inspiration for all the women by becoming one of the richest women in the country.

Not restricting herself to just being a businesswoman, she also boasts of a career in Politics. After OP Jindal’s death, Savitri Jindal joined politics and was elected to the Haryana Vidhan Sabha from the Hisar constituency in 2005.
After years of struggle, she finally got appointed as a Cabinet member of the Government of Haryana. She later served as a member of the Haryana Legislative Assembly.
Savitri is now a member of the Indian National Congress, a political party founded in 1885.
