Highlights:

Reliance Jio 5G network services are rolling out in four cities in India – Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Varanasi. It will enter more and more cities in the coming days.
Initially, Jio 5G will be available on an invite-only basis which means that the invite to use Jio 5G services will be delivered to the users on the MyJio App on their mobile phones.

Jio 5G rollout will happen by December 2023. Other competitors are also trying to enter the race. Airtel plans to serve its 5G service to all corners of India by March 2024.

What is Jio 5G Welcome Offer?

Welcome Offer is an invitational-based offer which means that not everyone will be able to get the invite and access to Jio 5G service. The offer is currently available in 4 eligible cities and users will get unlimited 5G data with up to 1Gbps speed.

Minimum Recharge Plan of Rs 239

The leading telecom operator has clarified that one needs to opt for Rs 239 prepaid plan at least, to get the Jio Welcome Offer and ultimately enjoy upto 1 Gbps speed.

While this could be a way to boost the company’s average revenue per user (ARPU), we will have to wait and watch the experience a consumer would get from Jio’s 5G services.

Jio 5G Supported Bands

According to Reliance Jio, consumers would enjoy the 5G experience on the n28, n78, and n258 bands in India but one needs to make sure that the device supports 5G SA.

When will Jio 5G plans be Out?

Reliance Jio is expected to announce 5G plans once its 5G service reaches more and more cities in the coming months. During the sixth edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) Event 2022, Akash Ambani said “Jio plans to cover entire India by December…We will make it very affordable, it should be affordable for every Indian – right from device to service.”

Future Plans

Currently, Jio 5G is rolling out in 4 major cities but Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Industries has confirmed that Jio 5G will cover pan India by December 2023.
