Reliance Jio board approves the appointment of Akash Ambani, son of Mukesh Ambani as Chairman
The decision by the board was taken in the board meeting held on June 27, 2022.
The business tycoon Mukesh Ambani has resigned as the MD of the company with effect from June 27, 2022.

In the latest announcement, the board of Reliance Jio, the telecom arm of oil to retail conglomerate Reliance Industries has appointed Akash Ambani, the son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani as its Chairman. Akash Ambani has also been appointed as the Non-Executive Director of Reliance Jio. To add further to the information, Mukesh Ambani has stepped down as the Managing Director and Chairman of Reliance Jio.

WHO IS AKASH AMBANI?

Born on 23 October 1991, the newly appointed Chairman is the eldest son of India’s richest billionaire Mukesh Ambani and his wife and famous philanthropist, Nita Ambani. Akash M Ambani is born and brought up in one of the richest business families in India.

AKASH AMBANI’S EDUCATION

Akash Ambani has completed his schooling at Dhirubhai Ambani International School. Post the completion of his schooling, he went to Brown University to pursue a major in the field of Economics.

In a surprising statement, Akash once shared that he didn’t know how wealthy his family is until he got an assignment to write about Reliance Industries when he was studying in 11th standard.

AKASH AMBANI’S CAREER

After completing his degree from Brown University, he came back to India and started working with his father at their family business.

Akash became involved in the development of the Jio 4G LTE connection. The tech enthusiast joined the 60-member startup four days after the completion of his degree in 2014.

In 2015, the entire nation witnessed the emergence of Jio 4G services in India. Akash launched Jio’s 4G services with his sister Isha Ambani.

AKASH AMBANI’S WIFE

In 2019, Akash got married to his childhood friend Shloka Mehta. Before tying the knot, both of them dated each other. Shloka Mehta is the daughter of famous Indian diamantaires Russell and Mona Mehta.

Shloka and Akash were blessed with a baby boy, Prithvi Akash Ambani on 10 December 2020.
